Internship Objectives

To prepare individuals for future employment in the field of strength and conditioning

Mission Statement:

It is the mission of ProForce Sports Performance program to maximize the potential in every component of athleticism and decrease the potential for injury in a manner that is SAFE and INTENSE for each athlete.

In this regard, yearlong strength and conditioning programs at ProForce Sports Performance (PFSP) are designed specific to each student-athlete. Each training program is tailored to be sport and position-specific by assessing the muscular and metabolic demands of the respective sport. Programs are evaluated and monitored continuously and adjusted as necessary through testing to help athletes reach optimal gains.

Program Principles:

  • Training movements not muscles

  • Creating a competitive, positive atmosphere

  • Individualizing programs to correct an athlete’s imbalances

  • Using multi-joint movements

  • Free-weight, ground-based movements

  • Using the SAID principle (Specific Adaptation to Imposed Demands)

  • Monitoring progress and adjusting programs accordingly

  • Administering programs that include strength, power, acceleration, speed, agility, core training, flexibility, and conditioning

Description: The PFSP internship program is designed to provide you with an educational experience that will compliment your classroom and book knowledge. All interns will be required to schedule and maintain a minimum of 25 hours per week. The program is designed for both the current undergraduate student, and the post bachelor young professional looking for experience. The daily responsibilities will include:

1. Assisting with supervision and execution of strength and speed training programs.
2. Teaching student athletes proper techniques and equipment use.
3. Attending to the daily maintenance of the training facilities.
4. Participation in weekly projects and assignments throughout the internship program.

Program Mission:
The PFSP internship program is designed to help strength and conditioning professionals grow, through learning, fostering growth in coaching ability, program design, nutrition, and program prescription.

Program Goal: The PFSP internship program wants 100% of its interns to become highly sought after professionals.  The PFSP internship program also wants to be nationally recognized for the work it performs in teaching and training young strength and conditioning professionals.

Compensation: The PFSP internship experience is earned recommendation toward further success as a Strength & Conditioning Coach, gear, and college credit towards graduation if applicable. No monetary compensation will be provided. We will do our best to help find affordable living arrangements and part time jobs.

Grading Policy:  If you are undertaking the PFSP internship for college credit, be aware that it is a privilege and not a right to perform an internship with us and we reserve the right to advise your professor if you have not met the expectations listed below.

Qualifications: Required: must have a strong work ethic and have a desire to become a Strength & Conditioning professional. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree, and at least working towards one of the following certifications: NSCA CSCS, CSCCA SCCC, USAW, NASM PES, or ACSM HFI.
